Why is there a range of prices for each item?

Every Wild Mustard bag begins as information entered onto a purse worksheet. This is where I record all of the materials used to produce the item, as well as the amount of time involved. I set the price of each item based upon how much it costs me to produce it, and factoring in the time involved. This allows me to pass on price breaks to my customers when I get good deals on the materials I use.

How long does it take to make an item? How long will it take for me to get it once it is finished?

Handbags and shoulder bags typically take me about 4-5 hours to complete; backpacks and diaper bags take between 8 and 10 hours. However, I rarely ever actually have more than 1-2 consecutive hours to work on a project, so it usually takes about 3 weeks from order to delivery. Delivery time also depends on the number of projects in the production queue; holiday seasons tend to have longer delivery times. I always contact customers in the event of any unforeseen delay in delivery.

Can these bags be machine washed or dry cleaned?

No. Although the fabrics themselves often can be machine washed or dry cleaned, many of the components used in construction, as well as the beaded and fringed trims, will not survive machine washing or dry cleaning. Most upholstery fabrics are treated with soil and stain repellents at the factory, and in my experience, the bags resist soiling. I suggest using upholstery cleaner as per the manufacturer's directions.

Do you take custom orders? What if I see a bag I like but want it in a different size or with a different trim?

Yes, I am happy to make custom bags; as this web site grows and develops, I hope to be able to feature all of my fabrics onsite for customers to browse. I am happy to work with fabric that you may already have as well. If you see a bag you like, it can almost always be made in any of the sizes. Depending upon availability and suitability, changes in trims can also be made.

Can I send someone a gift certificate?

Yes - gift certificates start at $10 and increase in increments of $5. You can also give a gift certificate for a handbag without any value specified; the cost is $40, which will count as a deposit, and the balance will be billed to you upon completion and delivery of the item. Gift certificates can be sent directly to the recipient, or I can mail it to you so that you can give it as a gift. Please email me for more information.

Where do the names come from?

Each bag has a unique ID number. However, it is impossible to remember them that way, so I give them names. Many of them are named after the person for whom they were made. Some are named for friends, some for women I admire, and some are names I just like (that probably got nixed from the baby name list!). Sometimes a fabric just makes me think of a certain name or person.

Do I have to pay any sales tax for this purchase?

I am only required to charge and collect sales tax for orders delivered within the state of Louisiana (8.6%).

Can I get my order gift wrapped?

Yes, for an addtional fee of $5 I will wrap your order in Christmas, Hannakuh, birthday or general theme paper and affix a gift sticker.
