Charity handbags for specific causes

The handbags in this section are named for specific individuals, and I will donate 100% of the purchase price (excluding tax, shipping and insurance), at no cost to the purchaser, to the charity associated with each bag. This is my small way of honoring the memories of these very special women.

While I'm working on getting these made and photographed, a bit of info: Sherry was a friend of mine, and Leslie Whittington was on the AA flight that hit the Pentagon. I wore a mercy band with her name on it for 5 years. The others are more well known enough I believe.

Charitable report

Because the amount of money collected was modest, I used the charitable contributions to purchase 100% wool yarn from Knit Picks to knit mittens, hats, and vests for afghans for Afghans; the fantastic price of their basic Wool of the Andes allowed me to turn what would have been a small donation to one charity into items that will give over and over again to people, especially children, who really need them. I did not get a chance to photograph the things I made before I sent them (I was trying to make the shipping deadline), but I will post pix of the next batch. An additional benefit for me was that I love to knit and this gave me a chance to do several quick projects and experiment with a variety of colors and patterns.
